Assessment: The test sample must be fully capable of functioning during and after the test. The
sample shall be monitored electrically throughout the test to verify correct operation. No ingress of
water shall occur.

9.3.9.3 Hot water jet
The purpose of this test is to simulate the jetting of water onto electrical/electronic components, which
are situated in exposed locations, when the car is jet-washed. The test is to be carried out with
commercially available steam blasting (hot water) equipment.
Specific requirements:
Applicable components See Table 2
Mounting position In vehicle-mounted attitude with associated brackets and components
Test duration 30 cycles
Electrical operation: Permanent battery feed only
Water temperature 80°C
Water pressure 100 o 3 Bar
Water discharge angle 35° o 5p
Distance of jet nozzle 80 to 100mm
from test sample
Spray time 10s for each accessible spatial direction (when installed in the vehicle),
followed by a 10s break
Assessment: The test sample must be fully capable of functioning after the test. No ingress of water
shall occur and the enclosure rating shall be IPX9K.
